The vast rivers estuaries Lagoons and flats that stretch out along the Belize coast invite endless fly fishing opportunities for permit bonefish tarpon snook and jacks of all kinds.
The color of the rain forest is so inviting, as you enter a river around each turn there is a new sight.
Birds of all kinds, howler monkeys calling in the distance, iguanas hanging in the trees, butterflies of all colors fly above, orchards and bromeliads of all kinds clinging to the trees.
The flats are lined with mangroves and covered with blue and green water of all hues.
Staying at Copal Tree Lodge high atop a hill, nestled in the south near the rustic but charming town of Punta Gorda is a delight.

Fishing day is over around 4:00

For non fishing guests at Copal Tree Lodge there are day trips to Mayan ruins, bird watching with a local naturalist, kayaking in the rivers, mountain biking and snorkeling at the reef, tours of Punta Gorda, the coffee and chocolate processing facility, rum factory and the organic farm. If you just want to relax by the pool and chill out thats ok to.

rods/reels 9ft 8-12 wt rods floating and intermediate lines depending on species.
2pr of polarized glasses
cloths/fishing attire/shoes/rain gear
fly selection; deceivers, tarpon, bonfish and permit, flies also available at the lodge.
bring any medical stuff you need nothing available out there
Bug repellant if needed
weight restrictions 50 pounds or be prepared to pay extra.
